Ya es un hecho oficial, la empresa internacional Turner Broadcasting System (dueño de CNN) una de las divisiones de la importante TIME WARNER confirmo a través de un comunicado de prensa la compra de Chilevisión, la cual pasará a ser parte de Turner Broadcasting System Latin America.
“Chilevisión es un canal muy bien administrado e históricamente ha tenido excelentes resultados en audiencia, ratings y participación en el mercado publicitario, así como en rentabilidad”, dijo Sams.
“Con esta adquisición, nuestra compañía entrará en el mercado de televisión abierta como un competidor prominente, lo que fortalece nuestra posición de liderazgo en América Latina, y expande el portafolio de canales y negocios internacionales de Turner en todo el mundo”.
Bajo los términos del acuerdo, TBS, Inc. pasará a controlar a Chilevisión. Se espera que la transacción se concrete una vez que se reciba la aprobación requerida en Chile.
El canal será operado por Turner Broadcasting System Latin America, una división de TBS, Inc., bajo la dirección de su presidente, Juan Carlos Urdaneta. El equipo gerencial del canal seguirá a cargo de las operaciones como hasta ahora.
“Agradecemos el compromiso y el apoyo de Bancard y su papel clave para lograr el crecimiento y el desarrollo de nuestro canal en los últimos cinco años”, dijo Jaime de Aguirre, director ejecutivo de Chilevisión. “Estamos muy entusiasmados con la nueva era que comienza con la llegada de Turner Broadcasting System. Estamos convencidos de que haciendo parte de una empresa global con las características de Turner Broadcasting System, nos espera una nueva etapa de crecimiento y oportunidades para un mayor desarrollo, no solamente para nuestro canal, sino más importante aún, para nuestra gente, quienes en definitiva son los que continuarán entregando más y mejor televisión para nuestra audiencia”.
