Chile se quedó con la medalla de oro en los Juegos Olímpicos de la Juventud de Singapur, versión 2010.
Las pequeñas futbolistas de la sub 15, que el día de hoy (24 de agosto 2010) ganaron la medalla de oro, lo habían prometido con seguridad abismante en la semifinal… “Nosotras obtendremos el oro, y será dedicado a nuestros 33 mineros chilenos atrapados en la Mina San José”; y así lo hicieron; llenando de algarabía a todo Chile, quien estuvo pegado al televisor para seguir en directo la histórica participación de una selección de futbol a nivel internacional; como también, a las familias de aquellos 33 mineros aún enterrados a 700 metros de profundidad; quienes seguro se enteraran de la excelente labor de estas niñas en plena edad escolar.
Nuestras jóvenes chilenas que dejaron todo en la cancha, supieron aprovechar ese penal en los últimos minutos contra GUINEA ECUATORIAL, ese penal que las llevo a la cima.
En el tiempo reglamentario, de 80 minutos, el partido finalizó igualado a un gol. Por la ‘Rojita’ (que hoy vistió de blanco), marcó Romina Orellana (23′); y empató Judith Ndong (53′), para el equipo de África Central.
En la definición desde los 12 pasos, Chile se impuso por 5-3 gracias a las anotaciones de Fernanda Navarrete, Melisa Rodríguez, Javiera Roa, Catalina González y Romina Orellana.
De esta manera, Chile obtiene el triunfo más importante de la historia del fútbol femenino.
Estas mismas jugadoras serán las que en un tiempo más inicien una nueva etapa cuando pasen a formar parte de la nueva selección Sub 17 que represente a Chile en el Sudamericano del 2012 que ya se avecina. Una alegría más después de tanto sufrimiento sucedido en el mes de febrero de este año; y lo acaecido en los primeros días en la mina de Copiapó.
